The Netopia R3100 supports the following user conﬁgurations for security authentication:

■ Single user, calling a single destination (single session)

■ Single user, calling multiple destinations (two simultaneous and separate sessions)

■ Multiple users, calling a single destination (single session)

■ Multiple users, calling multiple destinations (two simultaneous and separate sessions

Security authentication components

To properly identify and authenticate an authorized user, the following are required:

■ A secret personal identiﬁcation number (PIN) for each user.

■ A security authentication token card.

■ A Security Access Control Module (ACM).

Note: The Netopia R3100 currently only supports Ascend routers as ACMs.

■ An external Netopia R3100 calling into a designated server. For example, a telecommuter dialing into a

remote site from a Netopia R3100 interested in accessing personal email or ﬁle sharing services.

Note: The Netopia R3100 does not include a security authentication token card.

Conﬁguring for security authentication

To conﬁgure the Netopia R3100 to support security authentication, select an authentication method and set up

a designated connection proﬁle from the System Conﬁguration screen or your ﬁrst connection proﬁle from Easy

Setup.

1. From the WAN Conﬁguration menu, select Display/Change Connection Proﬁle. From the pop-up menu that

appears, select a Connection Proﬁle. In the Connection Proﬁle screen select Datalink Options.
